Although this is one of the highest volume border crossings between the two countries, some readers recommend it over the three other Washington State ports to the west during heavy traffic periods.

Sumas / Abbotsford Port Information

  • Hours of Operation: Open 24 hours per day
  • Southbound – 2 truck lanes, 4 auto lanes
  • Northbound – 1 truck lane, 6 auto lanes
  • Dedicated NEXUS lane hours into the U.S. are 8am to 11am Monday through Friday.   The same lane becomes a “Ready Lane” from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm Monday through Friday and from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.  As a “Ready Lane” it can be used by NEXUS members and travelers with RFID documents such as a U.S. Passport card, Global Entry card or Enhanced Driver’s License.  Overhead LED signage will alert travelers to the operating status
  •  NEXUS hours entering Canada are 8am to 8pm, seven days a week.
  • This is a Class A U.S. port which means it is a designated port for all aliens.  Foreign nationals entering the U.S. should use Class A Ports of Entry.
