Sumas Lane Additions

Construction to add 2 new northbound lanes to the Sumas / Huntingdon border crossing will begin May 7th and extend through much of the week.  Washington State is converting parking along Cherry Street / SR 9 into 2 new lanes as you approach the Canadian border.   When the work is complete there will be 3 northbound lanes between Garfield Street and Harrison Street leading up to the 5 Canadian inspection booths at the port.  There will still be one single lane southbound leaving the U.S. inspection booths.

This work will start at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 7, and will consist primarily of restriping the road to add the new lanes.  The crossing will remain open during the work, but you should expect additional delays as you approach the Canadian Border.
