The 4 lane Ambassador Bridge connects Windsor, Ontario and Detroit, Michigan and is the single busiest international land border crossing in North America. The Ambassador Bridge connects Canadian Highway 3 to U.S. Interstates 96, 94, and 75. The Canadian end of the bridge connects to busy city streets in downtown Windsor. We have complete information on this border crossing on our Ambassador Bridge border crossing page.
The toll is the same in U.S. and Canadian dollars and is collected in each country’s currency before a vehicle crosses. The bridge is aiming to go all-electronic or cashless at most of their toll booths. Trucks inbound to the U.S. from Canada will be tolled by transponder or license plate cameras only – no cash or credit card. The bridge has implemented the A-PASS program for commercial vehicles and has an “A Card” which provides a toll discount for frequent bridge users.
